May 29, 2007 > All American Scholar All American Scholar United States Achievement Academy recently announced San Lorenzo resident Sandhya Joshi, a student at Calvary Lutheran School in Hayward, as a recipient of the All American Scholar award in the "At-Large Division" and a National Award recipient in Science. She was nominated for this award by her teacher, Ellen Hackard. The academy recognizes less than 10 percent of American high school students with these prestigious awards. Winners are selected based on the recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors. The criteria for selection include: academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude, dependability and cooperative spirit. Sandhya is the daughter of Sarasijam and Deelip of San Lorenzo. Her surviving grandparents, Mrs. B.T. Joshi and Mrs. P.G. Gopinath live in Gujarat State, India.
