Mobility and Transportation Resources Fair
Submitted By Shawn Fong
Seniors, Caregivers & Service Providers are invited to a FREE community event to learn about services to help older adults stay mobile and active in their communities! Information will be provided on older adult driver safety programs, paratransit and transit services, walking and exercise programs, nutrition and wellness programs, assistive devices and fall prevention.
Seniors may apply on-site for a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount Photo ID Card that can be used to purchase discounted public transit fare tickets and passes. They may also tour Paratransit and AC Transit buses to view special accessibility features available for seniors and people with disabilities.
Seniors who drive are encouraged to participate in a free CarFit Assessment. The CarFit assessment is designed to give seniors a quick yet comprehensive assessment of how well they and their vehicles work together. Trained professionals will lead seniors through a 15-minute, 12-point checklist with their vehicle. Seniors will leave with recommended car adjustments and adaptations that will help enhance driving safety and give seniors greater peace of mind. FREE CARFIT ASSESSMENTS will be offered in the parking lot from 10am - 12pm.
To sign up for a CarFit assessment (appointments recommended but not necessary), or for more information about the Resource Fair, please contact Shawn Fong at 574-2033. The event is sponsored by the Tri-City Elder Coalition, City of Fremont Human Services Department, Alameda County Library, Alameda County Senior Injury Prevention Program as part of the Pathways to Positive Aging Project. Funded in part with Measure B Gap Funds.
