Make your own arrangement for mom
Fremont Flowers has been celebrating Mother's Day in a very special way for many years. Children, ages 5 -12 years old are encouraged to take a "hands-on" approach to letting Mom know she is appreciated. Flowers, greenery, baskets and supplies (and some assistance) are supplied by the florist, so all that is required is the ingenuity of young minds as they fashion a unique bouquet for Mom on Mother's Day. This is the seventh Kids Day to support the Fremont Education Foundation and each year it grows larger. Close to 200 kids are expected to come by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. so reservations are a good idea to make sure children can be accommodated (note to parents: a disappointed child is not a pretty sight).
A $12 donation for each arrangement benefits the Fremont Education Foundation (FEF), sponsors of after-school band, sports scholarships and grants in Fremont schools. Dirk Lorenz, owner of Fremont Flowers and Gifts, says, "Kids Day is one of my personal favorites. These floral works of art are personal expressions of love for mom."
