Logan Forensics Team members win state titles
Seven members of James Logan High School's nationally recognized Forensics Team were among the winners at the California State Championships in Fullerton, April 23-24.
Seniors Akash Pradhan and Jennifer Brooks won individual titles in the Impromptu Speaking and Expository Speaking competitions, respectively; while sophomore Cameron Steele was the winner in Humorous Interpretation.
In duo competition, seniors Ahmad Asir and Kyle Curson won in Public Forum Debate; and juniors Taron Grizzell and Karen Joshi won in Duo Interpretation.
As a team, Logan finished second, behind only Bellarmine of San Jose.
Coach Tommie Lindsey's team will next compete in the Catholic National Championships in Houston and the National Championships in Wichita, Kansas. To raise funds for those trips, a showcase of the competitors will be held Friday, May 4, in Logan's Little Theater, starting at 7:15 p.m.
A pasta dinner, catered by Strizzi's restaurant, will precede the showcase, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the courtyard outside the theater.
Tickets are $8 for the dinner and $8 for the showcase. Only 250 seats are available, and last year's showcase was a standing-room only event. For advance tickets, contact Julie Ballard at (510) 471-6019.
