Restaurants Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer Research

Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes restaurants announced it has partnered with Alex's Lemonade Stand, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for pediatric cancer research. Throughout the month of April, all 100 Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants across the United States will donate a portion of beverage sales to Alex's Lemonade Stand to support the organization in its effort to find a cure for childhood cancer.

"We are honored to promote the dream of four-year-old Alex Scott, whose passion and commitment has made Alex's Lemonade Stand one of the leading advocates for childhood cancer research," said Michael Mack, CEO of Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., parent company of Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes. "It is our goal to follow in her footsteps by raising awareness among our guests and employees and bring us closer to finding a cure."

To promote the partnership and encourage guests to participate in the fundraising campaign, Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes will offer a "Pucker Up" menu during April featuring refreshing lemon beverages and a variety of lemon-inspired dishes. The fundraising campaign will also include in-store and on-line marketing to encourage beverage sales. Information about Alex's Lemonade Stand and childhood cancer research will be available in the restaurants and online at www.souplantation.com and www.sweettomatoes.com.

Alex's Lemonade was founded by Alexandra "Alex" Scott when she was four, three years after she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of one. Determined to help her doctors find a cure, she set up a lemonade stand on her front lawn to raise money for pediatric cancer. When the disease took her life four years later, she had raised over $1 million from her efforts. Following her inspirational example, thousands of lemonade stands and other fundraising events have been held across the country by children, schools, businesses, and organizations, to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation which has raised more than $10 million to date.
