Local Dentist rewards good deeds
Fremont dentist, Dr. Colin Yoshida will award a computer on May 30th to a Fremont youth who participates in the national "Do A Good Deed Contest." The contest encourages youth up to 18 years of age to do a good deed and then write an essay detailing what they did, what motivated them to do it and what they got out of the process. The essays will be submitted to Dr. Yoshida and his staff, reviewed and a winner chosen.
Applying the ideal that "doctors heal people, but people heal the world", Dr. Yoshida is implementing the contest in order to help motivate the young people to become active in their communities and in turn, instill in them the positive qualities, like innovativeness, self-motivation, self-esteem and a desire to help others.
"In today's world it is important that we acknowledge young people's good deeds." Dr. Yoshida stated. "It is not true as portrayed frequently in the news that only bad things are happening. By focusing on what is good, we can get a different perspective of our society and encourage ourselves and the younger generation to do more good deeds. For any youth interested in enrolling in the contest, he or she may go to www.yoshidadentistry.com or simply mail entries to Dr. Yoshida's office.
