Udavum Karangal (Helping Hands) presents GALAATA 2007

The unique entertainment show in Bay area for Tamil Audience is back!

This organization is the result of a unique man's mission on the outskirts of Chennai, India where those in need receive a helping hand. The organization, founded by social worker Vidyakar, has grown over the past 25 years to open five social service centers and assist many destitute orphans in India. Helping Hands houses, cares for, educates orphans, children, people with disabilities and varied illnesses. The Bay Area Celebration of Udavum Karangal's 25 years of community service and the Tamil New Year - Galaata 2007 - will be held on Saturday, April 7th at Chabot College in Hayward 2:30pm to 10pm.

This popular show will feature a variety of entertainment this year including:

Fashion Show: Fusion of dance and walk - Models and dancers bring up the theme to the stage with unique style. Professional choreographers and Fashion show experts design this show with the famous theme on 'Love'. Auditions and practice sessions are going in a full swing to bring up a quality 30 minute show for the audience.

Galaata Idol: Inspired by American Idol - Galaata Idol provides a huge platform for people in Bay Area to explore their singing talents in Tamil and Hindi. After four rounds of preliminary sessions and one quarter finals the final list is ready. The semi finalists will be performing on the day of Galaata, the two final participants will be selected based on the votes from the audience. These two participants will be performing a duet song with Pallavi. Again the winner and runner up will be selected by the audience.

Sirippa Seruppa: Focused for people who have good sense of humor or people who think they have one. There were four preliminary rounds of performance. The final list is ready and will be performing on the day of Galaata.

Matinee Madness: Watch lot of movies... Here we come Bay Area to test your memory and observation on movies. Matinee madness is a very popular movie and movie related quiz program.

Pallavi: Bay area's best Tamil Music concert. Pallavi is a 10 year-old Bay Area band. Pallavi gives a one-of-a-kind rocking concert every year at Galaata. Sure can't keep you from dancing for the beats.

5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Matinee Madness
6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pallavi Light Music Concert
