March 27, 2007 > Candle Lighters distribute funds and install officers Candle Lighters distribute funds and install officers The Candle Lighters, a non-profit organization of over 100 women from the Ti-Cities area is celebrating its 38th year of community service. Since 1969, the annual Ghost House at Chadbourne Carriage House Park has raised over 1.5 million dollars for Fremont, Newark and Union City. These funds have been awarded to locally-based non-profit organizations, as well as the cities of Fremont, Newark and Union and City, local school systems and city services departments. The Candle Lighters are pleased to announce the recipients of funds from our successful Ghost House last October. They are as follows: The City of Fremont: $15,000 for a 5-year total of $75,000 toward the new swim park.
