A classic musical at Newark Memorial

"Beauty & the Beast"

Known for their pioneering spirit and ability to generate first-class productions, the Newark Memorial High School Performing Arts Department, brings together a cast and crew of over 50 to present the Academy & Tony Award-winning musical, "Beauty & the Beast." One of the first schools in the San Francisco Bay Area to produce this show, others who follow will have a hard time challenging the design, sets and depth of performance local audiences have come to expect.

From the animated feature to stage is a daunting leap for any script, but Disney's "Beauty & the Beast" includes the, by now, well-known songs and characters of this classic love story. Along with songs written for the screen, new music and songs, especially for the Broadway version, by Alan Menken and Tim Rice (Aladdin, Aida) will enchant and add another dimension to this uplifting tale.

In a simple French town, beautiful Belle lives with her inventor father. A beast enslaves her father, and heroic Belle trades her freedom for his; and a "tale as old as time" begins. Get your tickets now to find out what Disney does best, enchant, enthrall and entertain children, even those in their 80's! Filled with spectacular costumes and sets, Disney's "Beauty & the Beast" offers family theatre at its best.
