Help find Luke!

Palo Alto Police is requesting the assistance of the greater Tri-City area public in locating a missing Police Bloodhound. Palo Alto Police recently began a part-time pilot program that utilized a Bloodhound for tracking purposes. The three year-old canine, named Luke, is personally owned by a Palo Alto Police officer and went missing from the officer's Newark residence on December 26, 2006. Luke is very shy and has been used to track missing persons such as children and the elderly. Luke is not an attack dog. He is a Search and Rescue dog.

Most sightings to date have been reported after 24 to 72 hours. Those who see Luke are encouraged to call immediately. Luke has been seen throughout Newark and even in Union City. His shy demeanor will probably cause Luke to run away if approached even when his name is called.

Luke was recently spotted on December 31st, 2006 at 7:30 pm, in the school yard at Graham Elementary School. The school is located at 36270 Cherry Street in Newark. This location is close to where Luke lives. Luke was also spotted near Fire Station #2 on Newark Blvd, on the 28th or 29th of December. A $1000.00 dollar reward has been offered for the safe return of Luke the Bloodhound.

Please contact the Palo Alto Police Department with any information concerning the whereabouts of the missing canine at (650) 329-2413.
