Union City Firefighters and Local Democrats to Host Presidential Debate Night Barbequeby Louis Heystek
Union City firefighters and the Ohlone Area United Democratic Campaign - the Democratic headquarters for Fremont, Newark and Union City - will host a barbeque on Thursday, September 30th, the evening of the nation's first presidential debate for the November 2004 election:
The firefighters will rustle up hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, salad and more. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m., and all eyes will be on the debate at 6:00 p.m. After the debate, everyone is invited to stay for casual discussion.
Proceeds will benefit such Ohlone Area UDC efforts as get-out-the-vote activities for the Kerry/Edwards campaign and canvassing for endorsed regional and local candidates, including Pete Stark for 13th Congressional District and Alberto Torrico for 20th Assembly District.
