Olive Hyde Gala and Sale - a shopping winter wonderlandby Arathi Satish
Each year, as the weather grows cold and night skies are filled with twinkling Christmas lights, the Olive Hyde Art Guild gathers an impressive variety of original arts and crafts to help shoppers conquer gift and “to do” lists for the holidays. The Olive Hyde Holiday Gala on December 1st followed by its Show and Sale on December 2nd and 3rd prove a trip to the mall is not a necessary ingredient to find perfect presents and decorations for the holidays.
Festive wares created by 85 area artists guarantee that hand-crafted items will not only satisfy the need for something unique and special, but make shopping a fun experience as well. This event is known for excellent prices on original fine art including paintings, photography, ceramics, glass, metal, jewelry, fiber, wood and quality hand crafted items. Opening night of the sale, termed the Olive Hyde Art Guild “Gala,” includes not only a first opportunity to view and buy these popular items but a chance to enjoy a plethora of gourmet foods during the evening and participate in a drawing for a Hal Booth original watercolor painting. Saturday and Sunday hours are open to all with free admission.
Major sponsors for this year’s show include Hewlett-Packard Company and Fremont Bank Foundation. Tri-City Voice is the print media sponsor.
