There's going to be dancing at King Crab after allby Linda Stone
In TCV's Aug. 19, 2006 issue "Dancing and parking may not mix with the Milpitas City Council" we reported on the struggle of King Crab restaurant owner Peter Chen when he appealed a denial by the Planning Commission to install a dance floor for weddings and banquets.
Planning Commissioner Azevedo said that he recommended denial at a previous commission meeting due to a lack of cooperation from the adjacent property owner and parking problems. The Council decided to hold this issue for 60 days to allow time to reconcile the parking issues instead of denying the application.
At the October 17 council meeting, the city approved the installation of the 12-foot by 18-foot dance floor, with conditions. Chen will supply a parking attendant during lunch hours and banquet functions. The attendant will direct patrons to parking areas within the Calaveras Plaza Shopping Center and away from adjacent Milpitas Center. In addition, the agreement is subject to three month reviews. |
