An open letter to the community from Ohlone College Board of Trustees
The President of the Ohlone Community College District Board of Trustees, Mr. Robert Brunton, made the following statement about our College President, Dr. Doug Treadway, in the September 12 edition of the Tri City Voice newspaper: "My perspective is long term for Ohlone, while Dr. Treadway may be looking at things differently since his 5-year contract ends June 30, 2008 has not been extended." We realize this unfortunate statement may give the impression that the Ohlone Board of Trustees had taken official action with respect to the extension of Dr. Treadway's contract. This is absolutely not the case. Dr. Treadway's contract is in good standing and no discussion or action has taken place related to its continuation. The Board regrets that Mr. Brunton's comments could be misconstrued. Mr. Brunton apologized at the last board meeting and the rest of the Board expresses its sincere concern for any harm or embarrassment this has caused Dr. Treadway, his family, or the Ohlone College community.
Additonally, the board reconfirms the statement read by Mr. Brunton on behalf of the Board at the July 12th board meeting: The Board has been enjoying a closer working relationship with the President/Superintendent, College Council and employee groups. The Board has noticed an improvement in employee, staff relationships and morale. The Board recognizes Dr. Treadway's great leadership and innovation in several areas such as the LEEDS standards and buildings and has financially positioned the college for the future. |
