9th Annual Rose Showby Linda Stone
Regan Nursery in Fremont will host their annual rose show this Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. This show is for all rose lovers from the newest to the trophied veteran. Sponsored by the East Bay Rose Society (EBRS), there will be 19 categories to judge. Entrants can bring a cut rose and Regan will supply a glass bud vase with water. A 90-foot greenhouse will be set up to showcase the roses. The show highlights roses of all kinds: climbers, classic shrubs, mini floras and many others.
Judging will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., then the public is invited to view entries from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ribbons and trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. including first place, second place, and honorable mention in each category plus recognition of "Best in Show."
Last year over 100 entrants enjoyed the day discussing flora with other entrants and visitors. EBRS will be on hand to answer questions and enroll those interested in becoming members. Regan Nursery owner, Marsha Hildebrand invites all to come by and enjoy the wide variety of roses that will be displayed. She noted that over 300 people attended the show last year.
