Regarding the security at the Centerville Train Station
We certainly sympathize with Ms Hovde and the loss of her bike in the past few weeks at the Centerville Train Station. It is in our best interest, the tenant at the Centerville Train Depot, that we work to improve security so the community can feel comfortable in its use of the facility. The addition of the cameras... www.oiccam.com/depotdiner were not intended to aid in security, rather to give outsiders a view of our beautiful restored train station and plaza, as well as those who have an interest in trains to view them real time.
The cost of the installation and monthly maintenance of the 3 webcams located at the Centerville Train Depot is bore solely by the Depot Diner. Security is not their primary function. We certainly hope that Ms. Hovde was able to look back in time, via the "day at a glance" function and review the prior 24 hours to see who might have stolen her bike. It bears repeating, the cameras are not intended to aid in crime prevention. We hope that with the existing positioning of the cameras, they may be able to aid in solving crime in the future.
We do agree that bicycle lockers would be a welcome addition to the Centerville Train Depot. We have been an advocate for lockers for quite some time. With the emphasis we now put on alternative transportation solutions, the bicycle lockers would help encourage bicycle use.
