Welcome Teacher Day
The Fremont Education Foundation (FEF) and Fremont Flowers have teamed up again this year to welcome teachers back to school. On Tuesday, August 29, all Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) elementary students are invited to stop by Fremont Flowers at 37085 Fremont Boulevard to receive a free flower to give to their new teacher on the first day of school.
Fremont Unified schools begin the new school year on August 30th. In addition, FEF members will be delivering flower bouquets donated by Fremont Flowers to each school site on the first day of school.
"The Fremont Education Foundation is dedicated to our students in Fremont Unified and our educators who serve them. In a small way, as our schools reopen for a new academic year, FEF encourages our younger students to say, 'Welcome' by bringing a flower to their elementary school teacher." said FEF President David Bonaccorsi.
Dirk Lorenz, Associate FEF Board Member and owner of Fremont Flowers added, "We at Fremont Flowers are excited about how this event has grown ... and our staff always looks forward to seeing the kids and how excited they are about the new school year."
The Fremont Education Foundation currently funds three major programs: After-school Band Programs, open to 4th through 6th graders for free, including instrument and service scholarships; Innovative Education grants for teachers presenting innovative, quality classroom programs in grades K-12; and the Guy Emanuele Sports Fund providing sports wear and equipment scholarships for financially eligible students in the district.
