Local businessman honored for Little League supportby Karin Diamond
Jim Diamond, owner of a Farmers Insurance Agency in Fremont, was recently honored for his generous contribution to the Niles-Centerville Little League (NCLL) in conjunction with the Farmers Agent Community Sponsorship Fund. Jim is now a "Platinum Sponsor."
NCLL has been in existence for over 40 years, and Jim has been a part of the league for the past 10 years. NCLL is a nonprofit group that relies heavily on sponsors who make up 65 percent of the budget for equipment, uniforms, etc.
More than 400 kids participate on 34 teams and each season they play some 640 games. On a typical Saturday approximately 2,250 visitors come to the fields at Vallejo Mill Elementary School. This Little League is completely dependent on volunteers like Jim. He helped with managing teams and umpiring, even after his own children outgrew the league.
Booster Club co-coordinator Lori Lawrence says, "Jim has donated hundreds of hours to the players and the league, and continues contributing to the wonderful atmosphere our league provides."
