July 18, 2006 > Undefeated Cudas pirate away the booty - EBSL Southern Division Champions 1999-2006

Year after year the Glenmoor Stingrays always outdo themselves in being the best host in the East Bay Swim league and this year was no exception.  On Saturday July 15 Mission Valley Barracudas (Cudas) poured into the Glenmoor pool in the wee hours of the morning to be greeted by swimmers with pirate tattoos on their body and appropriately costumed adults.  The excitement was high, as the two undefeated southern division teams got ready to square off.  As the morning wore on, Cuda families were surprised with a visit from the Pirates of Emerson who mingled freely with the crowds of children and parents.  This surprise made the meet a fun social event despite the competition.

Despite the distraction, the Cudas produced their bag of tricks and took away the booty from the pirates with a score of 600.5 :447.5 capping their fifty-fifth consecutive win and becoming the undefeated southern division champions for the eight consecutive year. 
Even though many of the races were really close, the highlight was the girls 15-18 age group butterfly event where all eight Cuda swimmers, Annie Scobel, , Cathy Wagner,  Ashley Chen,  Alisa Tanakit,  Stephanie Conn,  KaRynn Perry,  Jessica Wagenbach,  and Courtney Moltzen, secured the first eight spots leaving the Stingrays to score from the ninth position on.

Next week the 2006 Southern Division Champions Mission Valley Barracudas will be racing against the 2006 Northern Division Champions San Leandro Drowning Darryls on Saturday July 22 at 8:00 a.m.
