The California Retired Teachers Association, Division 91 of the Tri-City area, recently provided $100 grants for several beginning teachers.

In Fremont Unified School District recipients were: Katharine Geers, David Williams, Kelly Freitas, Brian Hashimoto, Angela Witrykius, Toby Nishiyama, and Alberto Ballado.

New Haven School District recipients were: Kimberley Eames, Rob Washington, Kristin Pinnatore, Summer Belloni, and Michelle Deering.

Newark Unified School District recipients were: Rita Warda, Rafael Rodriguez, Eileen Weeks, Stacy Isaac, Pooja Govil, Sara Wallis, Joann Hong, and Judith Anderson.

The state organization also provides new teacher $1,000 scholarships at all California colleges. This year's Cal State East Bay recipient was Renee Manrique Stromberg.
