Fresh fruits, fresh veggies, fresh cultureby Judy King
Union City will host "A Taste of Culture," a summer concert series and farmers' market featuring great food and Bay Area musicians starting June 24 at the Old Alvarado/Cesar Chavez Park. This is the ninth year for the series.
The concerts run 10 a.m. through noon. Vendors will be open for business from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as they are every Saturday throughout the year. Other concert dates are July 22, August 12, and August 26.
Union City Program Coordinator, Chris Valuckas, notes an emphasis on more than music this year. The cultural spectrum will include ballet, hula and belly dancers among others. Shop a little, listen a little, watch a little and enjoy yourself a lot. It's a fine family thing to do on a Saturday morning.
