Ohlone College Raza Day
Ohlone College "Raza Day" means a day for "The People, The Community." The purpose is helping prospective students learn about the college and finding ways to finance their attendance. Raza Day is open to all Fremont 11th and 12th graders, especially Chicano/Latino students and parents as part of Ohlone College's commitment to recruiting and enrolling more Chicano/Latino students.
The California Department of Education reported that last year 204 Chicano/Latino high school seniors attended five Fremont public high schools. In spite of drawing students from the Tri-Cities, Ohlone College Chicano/Latino enrollment has remained below 13 percent in the last 10 years. Raza Day is an effort to provide more local educational options for Chicano/Latino 11th and 12th graders.
