Minor B D'Backs vs. Cubsby Daren Courter
As the first match-up between the Cubs and Diamondbacks unfolded, the outcome was in question until the final out. The Cubs jumped out of box early to take a 4-1 lead after one inning. Things could have been worse for the D'Backs if not for a splendid snatch of a line drive at third base by Zach Bailey...ending the inning with bases loaded. Both teams went cold until the D'Back bats came alive in the third inning.
With Scott Jacobsen leading the way (4 for 4) and Chris Hind putting together two solid hits, the D'Backs plated 9 runs on the day. However, the Cubs wouldn't quit and were able to apply constant pressure with solid hitting until the end. Adam Courter thwarted one rally with a slick double-play while Dominic Amaral recorded several put-outs from the pitcher's position. Great effort from both teams. D'Backs: 9 - Cubs: 4 |
