Ohlone bats remain dormantby Biff Jones
Ohlone Renegades women's softball team was slated to continue league play last week with home games scheduled against Cabrillo College of Watsonville and San Jose City College. The Cabrillo game became a victim of the continued wet weather and was rescheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at 3 p.m.
The game against the San Jose City Jaguars found some sunshine in the weather, but dark clouds in the Renegades bats, as Ohlone could only muster one run on three hits against the Jaguars. Ohlone's run came in the fourth inning on a home run off the bat of left fielder Kristina Dasilva. In the sixth inning, Ohlone threatened by loading the bases with no one out as lead-off hitter Jessica Soderholm reached first base on an error. This was followed by consecutive singles from Melissa Cross and Dasilva. That is where the three base runners were stranded as the next three Renegade batters were unable to get the ball out of the infield.
With the loss, Ohlone's league record fell to 12-2 while San Jose City improved to 10-2 as they also have postponed games to make-up.
Home games for Ohlone on the Fremont Campus are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursday, April 11, 13, and 18 along with the make-up game on the 19. The Renegades then face their rivals from Chabot College on Thursday, April 20 in Hayward. All game times are scheduled for 3 p.m. |
