Spring Wildflower Festivalby Shelly Lewis
Sunol Regional Wilderness will hold its 4th annual Spring Wildflower Festival on Saturday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event will take place at the Old Green Barn Visitor Center at Sunol Regional Wilderness off of Geary Drive in Sunol.
Anyone with an interest in wildflowers or nature is encouraged to attend. Attendees will learn how to identify wildflowers and discover the best bets for places and times to see different varieties. Throughout the day, the staff will present butterfly and wildflower slideshows and nature exhibits. In addition, there are several wildflower hikes ranging from easy to moderate. Sunol naturalists also have activities such as face painting and arts and crafts for children.
Visitors should bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic in the great outdoors. There are no food concessions in the park and the nearest food store or restaurant is seven miles away. The event is free to the public, but the usual $5 parking fee will be charged.
