Morey Greenstein - Fremont's numbers manby Alice Arce
The Tri-City area would wait 35 years after his birth for Morey Greenstein to arrive with his accountancy skills to open a practice in the young city of Fremont. Born November 28, 1929, Morey graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1948, attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1952 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 - 1954. Settling in the Bay Area, he met and married Eleanor Louik in 1956 and worked with the accountancy firm of Alexander Grant.
The city of Fremont presented growth opportunities for adventurous business people and one of the first accountants to answer the call was Morey who opened an office here as a sole proprietor in 1964. He was joined by Barry Rogoff in 1973 and Alan Olsen in 1987, becoming a partner in 1993. Now, with 51 years of experience, Greenstein can look back over half a century of dedicated and highly acclaimed leadership in a firm that has been recognized for its expertise in national and international tax planning, preparation and compliance, business valuation services, business and wealth preservation strategies.
Morey expanded his practice to include a Palo Alto office in 1980 in order to serve the explosive growth of high technology and venture capital businesses of Silicon Valley. Currently, the staff of over 35 employees serves a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, services, entertainment and financial services. A tradition of excellence and quality has been affirmed through a review administered by the California State Society of CPA's, under the auspices of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Morey and Eleanor were blessed with three wonderful children: Mark Greenstein, CFO of a venture capital firm, married to Renee Parker; Shane Greenstein, Professor of Economics at Northwestern University, married to Ranna Rosenfeld; and Jodi (Greenstein) Weverka, a high school teacher at Piedmont High School, married to Phil. His eight grandchildren, the love of his life, include: Adam (11), Jenny (9), Noah (8), Rebeka (7), Ilana (4), Eli (2), Jacob (13) and Hanna (10).
With great pride we applaud the dedication, leadership, and expertise of Morey Greenstein CPA and Founding Partner of Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen & CO. (GROCO).
