Baseball sign ups and try-outs

by Biff Jones

Fremont Baseball Incorporated (FBI) will be holding sign ups on Saturdays Jan. 28, Feb. 4, and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Irvington High School located at 41800 Blacow Rd. (corner of Blacow and Grimmer) in Fremont, next to the main parking lot.

Divisions and fees are as follows: Shetland (5-6) $65; Pinto (7-8) $90; Mustang (9-10) $90; Bronco (11-12) $95, Pony (13-14) $120; Colt (15-16) $150. A $5 discount will be offered for those who sign up prior to Feb. 15, along with multiple player discounts. After that date a $25 late fee will be charged.

Try-outs for Mustang, Bronco, Pony, and Colt Divisions will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Mustang and Bronco fields are at Harvey Green Elementary School located at 42875 Gatewood St., Fremont, and Pony and Colt fields are at Los Cerritos Park located at 3377 Alder Ave. in Fremont. A make-up session will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., for those who cannot make the first session on the 4th. It is highly recommended that every attempt is made to attend the try-out session on the 4th as there may not be many other players at the make-up session.
In case of rain, try-outs will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, only.

New players must have a copy of their birth certificate. FBI will be using the date of July 31 to determine the age level at which they can compete in 2006.

FBI services the Fremont, Newark, and Union City. In addition, FBI has received authorization from Pony West to service the Hayward area, just south of Tennyson, in 2006.

For more information, contact FBI at (510) 490-8189.
