Blackhawks Peewee B TeamSanta Clara Blackhawks dominates Jr. Sharks 9-3 Dec. 17 in Fremont
The Santa Clara Blackhawks showcased their offensive skills on this rainy Saturday afternoon. The game did not start the way we wanted; just a couple of minutes after the puck dropped the Jr. Sharks scored the first goal of the game following a bad Blackhawks change (0:1).
The Hawks fought back and Adriana Durst tied the game with a goal assisted by Schuyler Krawczuk (1:1). A few minutes later we were already ahead. Nathan Lundberg scored what later turned out to be a game winning goal (2:1), assisted by center Gavin Rea and defenseman Dominic Amigone. Before the end of the first stanza San Jose got a penalty for having too many men on ice. The Hawks converted the power play with team captain Brandon Shank assisted by Anthony Corini (3:1).
Santa Clara's momentum continued in the second period. Oliver Takacsi-Nagy scored our fourth assisted by Anthony and Dominic. What was a pretty one-sided game suddenly changed into a more open affair when Brandon was sent to the box for five minutes for checking a Sharks player in the head (Brandon maintains that it was a clean hit but the officials thought otherwise).
First the Hawks held up well during the long Sharks powerplay but at the end San Jose was able to score a goal (4:2). The Jr. Sharks managed to keep the momentum after the powerplay ended and further narrowed our lead (4:3). The two goals were enough of a wake-up call for the Hawks and we did not step off of the gas pedal until the end of the game. Our team put up a goal fest and went on to score five unanswered goals.
Below is the summary of the shots and goals in this game.
The player of the game award went to Adriana, who played forward in this game and scored her first hat trick of the season. Brandon also got a hat trick. Great job Adriana and Brandon!
This game was a must win and Hawks completed their mission. It was nice to see a lot of players getting on the board and the team playing physical.
Our next scheduled regular season game against San Jose Jr. Sharks will be in Fremont on Saturday, March 11, 2006. With that game Santa Clara Blackhawks will finish their regular season games.
