Be on the lookout for suspicious vehicle's casing the area. These have mainly been white cargo vans or SUV's (often registered out of Los Angeles or a rental company). The suspects often work with a second lookout vehicle that can be any type of car.
The suspects often follow delivery drivers and steal directly from the delivery truck (or sometimes the entire truck...violent robberies, kidnappings, and carjackings have happened recently in Santa Clara Co.).
Please advise your employees to "be on the lookout" for these cargo vans and SUV's (usually occupied by 2-4 individuals). If they see these vehicles acting suspicious contact the police immediately and advise the dispatcher they think they're casing for burglary or robbery. If they can get a detailed description of the vehicle (including a license plate), have them do so without alerting the suspects.
The late night burglaries/roll up door smashes are always prefixed with casing during the day. This is how we arrested previous suspects when our security found them casing.
Most importantly, do not hesitate to call the police as curbing the burglary and robbery activity in the hi-tech sector is a major priority. By calling during the day, you may either prevent a delivery truck/loading dock robbery and/or a midnight burglary.
We need you and your employees and security to be our eyes and ears and to alert us quickly of any suspicious activity. Hopefully we can sneak up on these guys without them knowing.
Please share this information with your business neighbors.
