Kiwanis Turkey and Holiday Food Drive on Nov. 19
Members of the Fremont's Kiwanis Club along with some of the club's sponsored youth organizations will be at eight Albertsons stores in Fremont, Union City and Newark on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to collect turkeys and non-perishable food items during the John Farley Turkey and Holiday Food Drive.
Fremont Kiwanis Club volunteers have pledged to deliver at least 100 turkeys and many food items to the League of Volunteers for their annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner, which served over 4,000 dinners last year at the Newark Pavilion as well as to homebound community members in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro and San Lorenzo.
Another 50 turkeys will be delivered to the Tri-City Homeless Coalition and the Sunrise Village Homeless Shelter, Fremont. The balance of the turkeys and food will be donated to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
Kiwanis Club members throughout the Bay Area will also be participating in the drive, showing up at more than 100 Bay Area Albertsons stores that day to collect turkeys and other non-perishable food items.
Community members are asked to help make this year's drive a success to feed those in need this Thanksgiving Day holiday. Kiwanians will also accept cash donations. In addition, if you purchase $25 worth of groceries and a turkey, Albertsons will give you a free turkey. For further information of the drive, please contact Julie Brahmst at (510) 797-2500.
