With increasing needs in communities worldwide, the Lion's Club and its partners have selflessly committed themselves to making a difference. From involving members in projects such as cleaning up local park areas or as bringing sight to the world's blind, the Lions have demonstrated care and concern for their fellow neighbors. Today, the organization has over 46,000 clubs worldwide.

The Tri-City area has nine different Lion's groups who contribute to the SightFirst vision program that help the blind and visually impaired. Lions clubs are recognized for their assistance, and their dedication stems back to a statement Helen Keller made at the 1925 Lions International Convention when she challenged them to become the "knights of the blind in the crusade of darkness." At the local level, the Tri-City's own Lions have taken donations of glasses, held free vision screenings, and raised funds for vision programs.

Besides the SightFirst program, Lions are involved in countless other community improvement activities including assisting the hearing impaired, providing diabetes awareness and education materials, working on environmental projects, and developing youth projects. Members give without wavering from their mission of: "We Serve."

Clubs are always open to new members and membership is by invitation only. For more information on how to join, contact one of the Tri-City Lions Clubs in your area.
