Local author to sign book about deaf daughter
Fremont resident Richard Medugno, author of "Deaf Daughter, Hearing Father," will read from his book, answer questions about life with a deaf child and sign copies of the book on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at the California School for the Deaf's Little Theatre.
Published in September by Gallaudet University Press, "Deaf Daughter, Hearing Father" recounts the story of the Medugno family's journey and provides practical information on many of the common challenges faced by hearing parents with deaf children. In the book, Medugno reveals his enthusiasm for all possibilities, from exploring the potential of videophones to helping stage school for the deaf musicals. He describes how the rewards of having a deaf daughter are far greater than he could have hoped or imagined.
Admission to the event is free and interpreting service will be provided. Proceeds from book sales will benefit the Associated Parents, Teachers and Counselors of the California School of the Deaf.
