Fremont Storiesby Nydia Estrada
The Fremont Stories project seeks to highlight the many faces of Fremont by collecting personal stories from people in the community through oral history interviews. This includes new immigrants and longtime residents and will document the social history of Fremont before and after it was incorporated. This project consists of the six areas of Fremont (Irvington, Niles, Centerville, Mission San Jose, Warm Springs and the Northern Plain) from early 1900s to today and will be presented through multimedia displays at Fremont's 50th Anniversary celebration next year.
We are offering an Oral History Interviewer Workshop to train local residents as interviewers. Everyone has a story to bring Fremont history alive. You can help us capture these stories. RSVP to Patricia Schaffarczyk, (510) 656-0248 or send an email to pathikes@yahoo.com.
