"The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection."- Michelangelo
Art in all its forms has enchanted man since time immemorial. What the brain would love to conceive, what the mind would dare imagine, what the senses would indulge in... all that and more. Welcome to the Nova Gallery of Fine Art - one of the only formal art galleries located in Fremont.
The philosophy of the gallery is to "live life artistically." The message to all who appreciate art is that it is a medium that reflects us. The more one takes time to understand art, the more one is capable of appreciating the complexities of our world and ourselves.
"Here is a rare opportunity to take beauty home," said Sally Gifford, director of Nova Gallery of Fine Art, which opened its doors to the public in April 2005. Nova Gallery is a modern art gallery committed to showcasing the finest contemporary and traditional artists including original oil paintings and bronze sculptures of Harland Young, one of the most influential Western artists of our times. Known as "the master of the fleeting moment," his use of rich, resonant colors and light takes his work one step beyond realism in capturing the true spirit of the events he portrays.
Also featured in the gallery is the distinguished modern artist Jack Storms. Celebrated for his magnificent modern crystal glass sculptures, he is a master of elegance. Using dichroic lead crystal and BK-7 glass as his main material, each piece is meticulously shaped by hand. Because of the care and precision put into the creation of individual pieces, they can take up to six weeks to produce.
Master Seascape artist Bob Tapia's original oil paintings, exclusive ivory art carvings, exotic crystal glass sculptures and beautiful bronze sculptures offer a rare treat to the connoisseur.
The gallery boasts of a large private collection of antique ivory carvings, some collected for over 200 years. The Magnificent Antique or Modern Ivory Collection captures appealing and endearing images of the 19th and 20th centuries of China, Japan and India and include The Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy, Three Generations, Hundreds Pelicans, Manchu Ruler and Empress representing 19th century China.
Sally is very selective about the art works at the gallery. "At Nova we do not follow fads" she said. They have evolved a unique style which is truly genuine and focuses on the realistic. They promote "real fine art" which smacks of very high caliber aesthetics, is worthy of collection, priceless in value, and a rare investment.
