Health and Resource Faire for Seniorsby John Fisher
If knowledge is power, information is a close relative. The 7th annual Health and Resource Faire for Seniors will provide a plethora of information for decisions and choices you may have to make. "This resource faire is the largest of its kind in the Tri-City area," said Margrith Reichmuth, Senior Center supervisor.
This free event will be held at the Silliman Activity Center, 6800 Mowry Ave. in Newark on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Over 50 service providers will have tables set up with information and resources available. Who is a senior? "We are not going to be checking ID's. This event is an opportunity for anyone who may need the resources, now or later," Reichmuth said.
Resources such as Chore Providers can help those with medical conditions that prevent them from performing daily tasks. Free health screenings will be provided and flu shots will be offered for $20. Representatives from the Social Security administration will provide answers on Medicare eligibility. AC Transit will offer information on transportation needs. Meals on Wheels, AARP and Veteran's and state and local government representatives will be on hand to answer questions. There will be live entertainment and complimentary refreshments throughout the event.
