Tri-City children perform in Moscow Balletby Beth Murdock
Local children will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dance in Moscow Ballet's "Great Russian Nutcracker" production during its 80-city U.S. tour in November - December 2005. Moscow Ballet soloist, Roman Arkhypov chose over 60 children on Sept. 1 to perform in Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker. The performance will be showcased at Chabot College Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster: 510-625-TIXS, Ticketmaster Outlets: Tower Records, Wherehouse Records, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
As part of the company's commitment to arts education and cultural exchange, local children ages 8 to early teens will be invited to audition for roles in Act I as Party Guests, Mice, Angels, Little Snow Flakes, Butterflies and in Act II as Little Pages and junior corps de ballet in Russian, Arabian, French, Chinese and Spanish divertissements.

Moscow Ballet will bring its critically acclaimed production of the Great Russian Nutcracker to 80 cities this holiday season. Honored Artists of Russia Tatiana Predenia and Irina Surneva will star as Masha. Artistic Director Anatoli Emelianov will alternate in the role of the Enchanted Nutcracker Prince with Vladimier Dimitriev,and Alexander Flegmatov. Emelianov, a ten year veteran of the company, and Valerie Kokorev a former soloist with the Bolshoi Ballet and the Stanislavski Ballet will direct. Moscow Ballet's all Russian casts have won rave reviews for exquisite dancing and finely-honed classical technique. With Valentin Fedorov's stunning sets and costumes, and larger than life puppets, the Great Russian Nutcracker is the must-see production of 2005.
