Parents asked for guidance on medication policiesby Gary Leatherman
The Fremont Unified School District Department of Pupil Personnel Services is inviting parents and other interested community members to attend an organizational meeting Oct. 24 to form a Student Health Advisory Committee. The meeting is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the FUSD Education Center, 4210 Technology Drive.
The committee will be asked to review recently revised district medication policies and regulations, record successes and challenges observed so far during the 2005-06 school year, and prepare a needs assessment regarding medical issues in schools. The committee will be expected to report its findings to the Board of Education.
The purpose of the first meeting will be to hear comments, concerns and ideas and to form the committee, Calvert said. She said she hopes that the committee will represent a cross section of the community, including school administrators, teachers, nurses and other staff as well as parents of students with different types and levels of health needs that need to be addressed during school.
Anyone interested in additional information about the meeting or the committee should contact Calvert by phone at (510) 659-2514 or by e-mail at ccalvert@fremont.k12.ca.us. |
