History correction:by John Dusterberry
None of Henry Dusterberry's children went to Washington Union High School. There was no high school in the Fremont/Newark/Union City area when they were of high school age. In fact, my father, Frank Dusterberry, was proud of the fact that he was the chairman of the committee that was successful in getting passed the bond issue that built the first high school.
I can't say there never was a Harvey and Dusterberry, but the only mercantile firm I know my father was associated with was Hawes and Dusterberry. Family legend has it that they decided it wasn't worth cleaning up after the 1906 earthquake.
