Timothy Swenson, Past President and Board Member of the Union City Historical Museum, has released 4 papers on Union City history and made them available on the website www.geocities.com/unioncityhistory.
The following papers are available:
Charles S. Eigenbrodt - Alvarado Civil War Hero - The life of Charles Eigenbrodt, who came to California in 1849, settled in Alvarado, became a County Supervisor, then heeded the call to battle, by being an officer in the California Battalion and dying on the battlefield in West Virginia.
Crash of Flight 615 - Flight 615, a DC-6B, crashed into Tolman Peak, just east of the Masonic Home in Union City in 1951. The paper covers the accident, the recovery and investigation of Flight 615.
Union City History Collection - A collection of articles on different items of local history previously published in the Union City Historical Museum newsletter.
Alvarado Boy - A fictional story of an eight year-old boy growing up in Alvarado in 1883, written from his viewpoint. All of the papers are released with a Creative Commons license that allows for free redistribution of the paper, meaning that the paper may be given to anybody. The papers are available in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.
