'Ramble Through the Roses' Art -in -Action
Two of Fremont's community-minded establishments have once again teamed up for an exciting weekend. Regan's Nursery is hosting the Fremont Art Association's second "Ramble Through the Roses" art-in-action weekend. The nine-acre nursery will be the garden setting where artists will be drawing and painting, creating jewelry and ceramics, and displaying their work for view and purchase. Regan's Nursery is known for its large collection (over 1,000 varieties) of roses and rare maple trees. Here you will find over 25 artists capturing bits of paradise as they work among brilliant floral arrays, accompanied by the background music of fountains and water gardens. Watercolorists and oil painters will be demonstrating their talents as ceramic artists showcase the use of the potters' wheel. Jewelers will have one-of-a-kind designs from vintage to modern pieces.
Both Regan's Nursery and the Fremont Art Association have been dynamic neighbors in the Fremont, Newark and Union City communities. Through its "Roots in the Community" program Regan's has provided over $10,000 annually in grants to Tri-City teachers and schools. These funds have enriched curricula not limited to garden-based themes, but include all aspects of the sciences and encourage students to realize their role as stewards of our environment and resources.
The non-profit Fremont Art Association has been a Tri-City establishment since 1956. Over the years, as part of its mission to promote and cultivate the appreciation of the arts, the Fremont Art Association has provided scholarship and funding assistance to art students in community colleges. Monthly programs freely open to the public bring prominent artists to demonstrate and discuss their art at the association's gallery in Niles all year culminating in a juried show every fall.
