Join Hands Day was success at Lake Elizabethby Ardis Edwards
Join Hands Day is a national volunteer day that brings youths and adults together to improve communities, build lasting relationships and to have fun.
This year's project was to refurbish and revitalize Lake Elizabeth in Fremont. Forty-four people were involved in cleaning up the park. Two truckloads of sand was delivered for shoveling into the swing and slide area.
Volunteers included Councilman Steve Cho and several multigenerational families who participated in the project.
"What you do for the city, just that one day, is so much help, as well moving all that sand for safety purposes for our children. This frees up city of Fremont to do routine and scheduled pruning of shrubs, trees etc," said Kyle Kramer of Parks and Recreation Services.
Afterward the volunteers enjoyed a pizza party at Round Table Pizza in Fremont. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans sponsored the event. |
