Newark celebrates 50 yearsby Ceri Hitchcock-Hodgson
Put on your party hats and get ready to celebrate Newark's 50th birthday. The celebration will be held the week of September 22 to 25 with 50s-era entertainment on two outdoor stages, a photo display of Newark through the years and a 50s diner fun area complete with waitresses on roller skates. As always, there will be the popular kids' parade, children's crafts and much more.
And don't forget the food! Applications are available for Food and Game booth space and will be accepted until September 13. Applications can be picked up at the following locations; Newark Community Center (35501 Cedar Blvd.), Newark Library (6300 Civic Terrace Ave.), Silliman Center (6800 Mowry Ave), and the League of Volunteers Community Service Center (35233-C Newark Blvd.).
