Family health and lifestyle expo at Quarry Lakesby Linda Stone
The weather is being asked to cooperate so Tri-City folks can enjoy a day in the park at Quarry Lakes in Fremont. Everyone is invited to listen to Chubby Checker, Disney Channel's The Cheetah Girls, meet KGO radio personalities and talk to sports celebrities when The East Bay Regional Park District and ABC Radio Disney present "A Walk In The Park: A Family Health & Lifestyle Expo," a day of fun and activities for kids and adults on Saturday, April 30.
The annual "Trails Challenge," a popular program in which a special commemorative pin and T-shirt is earned for completing five trails by December 1 will kick off the day's activities.
KGO AM 810 will air live at the event, with fitness expert Joanie Greggains from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. and "Dining Around" host Gene Burns from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Bay Area Sports Stars, including Oakland A's World Series MVP Dave Stewart, Golden State Warriors NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond, and Oakland Raiders Superbowl MVP Quarterback Jim Plunkett will be on hand to meet visitors and sign autographs.
Special guest, Vecepia, from "Survivor: Marquesas" will also attend. Kids can enjoy interactive games and activity booths, a giant obstacle course, a bounce house and more.
Those who bring a non-perishable food donation will have a chance to win great Radio Disney Prizes. (Donations benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank).
