Open art show at Paddy's Cafeby Diane La Mountaine
This year Paddy's Cafè will host Union City Arts Council's Sharing the Arts event instead of the senior center that has hosted the event for the past four years.
"Bringing the art work and show into the community proved to be quite successful," said Council chair, Diane La Mountaine. We owe a lot to Paddy Iyer who continues to support the arts, year round. This year, we have some regulars as well as a number of new artists participating. Enrique Romero, well known in our community for his mural work, recently relocated to South Lake Tahoe. Enrique will be making the trip back to Union City to hang some of his excellent work in this year's show. We also have a number of great pieces coming in from Logan High art students this year!
The art show runs from 9:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. There will be entertainment throughout the day. Peter Oliva a singer/songwriter whose past musical credits have included working with the late Gene Clark, the great Gene Parsons, and several members of the Byrd's will perform at 10 a.m. His works are an eclectic mix of Americana, rock and folk.
Farmers Market will be open most of the day, just across the street in Cesar Chavez Park, at Smith and Watkins streets. This event promises to be an excellent outing for the whole family. Fresh produce, fish, flowers and more, along with awesome art including, water color, acrylic, mix media, photography, sculpture and even some glass fusion work and a good cup of java!
The show will close with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. as we acknowledge the artists with an informal reception.
A partial list artists participating includes; Gilbert Orozco, Michael Timbang, Pauline Cabello, Juneko Martinson, Huanyong Li, Nalini Keshav, Gregg Hansen, Diane La Mountaine, Ann Marie Haley, PG Rafanan, Yvonne Leong-Stephenson, Angela Villegas, Charls Fosterwhite and Roger Ngu.
Thank you to our supporters and sponsors; Tri-City Voice, Pasta Pomodoro, U.C. Leisure Services (and volunteers), Paddy Iyer, Union City Friends and The Argus.
