Community meeting for Fremont's July 4th parade
The public is invited to the first community meeting for the 2005 July 4th parade that will be held at the Olive Hyde Art Center and Gallery at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. The center is on the corner of Mission Boulevard and Washington Boulevard, across from the historic Mission San Jose.
"We need a lot of help!" said Connie Andrade, one of the organizers. "Our planning committee has been meeting for months, but now we need a lot of people to help make this a success."
The theme this year is "Stars and Stripes Forever." Ray Pulver, of Upbeat Parade Productions, continues as parade consultant. Anyone wanting to participate in the parade should contact him at (408) 629-2520 or email Upbeatparades@aol.com.
"We had the first July 4th parade here in Mission San Jose in 1999 and we're using the same route," said co-chair, Bob Tavares. "Our big challenge right now is to raise enough money. They're telling us we need about $67,000 and we've only collected about $4,000." To make a donation please call (510) 651-2582.
