Free Dental Exams on Children's Healthy Smile Dayby Cathy Critchfield
Children in need of healthy smiles will have the opportunity to receive free dental exams, cleanings and fluoride during Children's Healthy Smile Day on Saturday, March 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the University of the Pacific's Union City Dental Care Center.
To fulfill the dental needs of low-income children residing in the community, the university is teaming up with the East Bay Component of California Dental Hygienists' Association, dental assistants from the Eden Regional Occupational Program in Hayward and Chabot College dental hygiene students for this community outreach program.
Children, ages six to 13, can receive complimentary dental health screenings, teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments and oral health care education. If restorative dental work is needed, referrals to other pediatric clinics will be provided. "Children's Healthy Smile Day is a great way for low-income families to start their children on the road to regular dental care," stated Cathy Critchfield, staff hygienist at Union City Dental Care Center.
Call (510) 342-0219 to schedule an appointment for Children's Healthy Smile Day. Pacific's Union City Dental Care Center is located at 1203 "J" Street, (corner of 12th and J Streets) Union City.
