Candle Lighters Donate Monies to Local Nonprofitsby Diann Nelson
The Candle Lighters held their annual Presentation Luncheon Jan. 22 at Sunol Valley Golf Club. The Candle Lighters is a non-profit organization of Tri-City area women who raise money for other nonprofits each Halloween season by running the Ghost House at the Hub shopping center. Now we can enjoy the "rewards of our labor" at the Ghost House in October by presenting checks to local organizations. We were pleased to present a total of nearly $40,000 to seven recipients. The recipients are:
Special Project: City of Fremont Water Park Project - $15,000, Tri-City Homeless Coalition - $6,388.92 for furniture for their community room, Fremont Senior Center - $6,289.28 for folding tables, Fremont Education Foundation - $2,637.75 for music stands and sheet music, Tri-City Free Breakfast Program - $1,298.99 for a commercial grade food processor, Starstruck Productions - $2,766.65 for eight new microphones, Washington Hospital Healthcare System - $5,432.09 for an automated blood pressure/weight machine.
The Candle Lighters also installed new officers. They are: President Madeline Holmes, Co 1st Vice Presidents Riki Twist and Norma Cutter, 2nd Vice President Sumi Lampert, 3rd Vice President Sandy Strong, Recording Secretary Mary Ann Stoermer, Corresponding Secretary Diann Nelson, Treasurer Marguerite Meyer, Communications Mary Lang, Membership Shirl Oliphant, Social Chairs Karen Bradley and Vicki Francis and Parliamentarian Debra Keller.
