Spring Booklegger Orientation and Training Times Setby Gail Orwig and Karen Pacheco
How would you like to have children hanging on your every word? Bring together books, children, and libraries through community service? Become a Booklegger and experience the satisfaction of bringing the joys of reading to children in grades kindergarten through eighth. Eight weeks of training at the Fremont Main Library (to be held on Tuesday mornings, 9:15-11:45 a.m., Feb. 8 through April 5, 2005) will introduce volunteers to booktalking, reading aloud and storytelling skills; regular visits in the Fremont Unified School District will follow.
Orientation meetings for prospective volunteers will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 2 -3 p.m., and again on that date from 7 - 8 p.m.
You need only attend one of these meetings. The orientations will be held at the Fremont Main Library, 2400 Stevenson Blvd., in Fremont, in Conference Room A. If you can commit 3-4 hours a week to this Award-Winning Program, or have any questions, please call the Children's desk at the Fremont Main Library, (510) 745-1421, and ask for Gail or Karen. Come join us for an exciting volunteer opportunity!
The Fremont Main Library is part of the Alameda County Library system. |
