Marine Corps Toys for Totsby Florence Ion
For their birthday, the Marine Corps held a massive toy drive for the "Toys for Tots" program. Four Marines from the Alameda USMC Reserve Unit received a collection of children's items from workers who donated a dollar per week as part of an extended commitment to the program. These 40 workers from a Union City business donated almost $3,000 worth of gifts to help bring holiday cheer to the less fortunate children around the world.
In the first week of November, workers who had volunteered for the program were found spending their money on gifts for the children. "This is the least we could do for all the sacrifices that Marines have made for us," said Maria Ramirez, a volunteer for the program. Her co-worker, Sandra Espinoza, added, "Children deserve a joyous holiday; we are very happy to help."
