Climb Our Indoor Pinnacle-Free For REI Members: 6 pm-8:30 pm, Tuesdays, December 7, 14, 21, 28 On selected days throughout the month, you may climb our indoor pinnacle on a first-come, first-serve basis. REI members climb for free; non-members pay a $5 daily fee. Each climber must sign a liability release form and, if under 18 years of age, must be accompanied by his/her parent/legal guardian.
Winter Backcountry Travel-Safety and Survival Tips: 7 pm, Tuesday, December 7 How do you get ready for a day out in the snow-by stuffing a jacket and water bottle into your pack as you head out the door? If so, you may be putting your own life-and the lives of others-in unnecessary danger. Tonight, Robert Parkhurst, mountaineering instructor and member of the Pinecrest Nordic Ski Patrol, will teach you how to best prepare for the potential hazards of winter backcountry travel, as he shares the latest information on accident prevention techniques, rescue fundamentals and survival basics.
Whether you're headed out on snowshoes, skis or snowboard, for the day or an overnight, come learn about the gear, skills and knowledge that are essential for safe winter travel. |
